Ethelyn and Gene Brown married in 1978, and together they enjoyed fishing, traveling and many friendships until Gene's death. She is survived by her children and siblings, Patricia Bates, Marilyn Rolph, Garry (Sue) Gearin and Marcella Montgomery; sister in law, Rose Gearin; stepchildren Darrell Brown of Eugene and Darla Hochhalter of Honolulu; grandchildren Garrick Baxter, Marnie Noble, Angela Jaime and Katherine Moeller, Brandon Harris, Kirsten Harris, Jill Brown, Jae Brown, Shantelle Kragh and Mark Bennor; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She married Lynn Baxter in 1943 and they had three children, Rolland Baxter (Paulette) of Corvallis, Linda Baxter Harris (Bob) of Berkeley, Calif. , and Janice Baxter (now deceased). Ethelyn and Lynn settled in Eugene after World War II. Ethelyn attended St. Mary's Catholic Parish and became a founding member of St. Peter's Catholic Parish. After Lynn's death, Ethelyn returned to school and soon went to work for the Eugene Water Electric Board, where she became a valued employee in the benefits office. In retirement, she continued to help EWEB retirees as a volunteer.
